Introduction

About the Blog:

This blog is a reflection of my adventures into experimenting with different recipes.  Some recipes are an inspiration from friends and family while others are from postings on the web, but each has been personalized. I was not a very good cook a few years ago, but after I became a stay-at-home mom, I was inspired to cook for my family. I didn't think I would create a blog, but after getting compliments and requests for recipes, here I am sharing my ideas and innovations with you. My goal is to provide recipes that are totally do-able at home with ingredients that are easy to find.

About me:

My name is Dharini, I was born and raised in India and migrated to the US in 1997. I had many challenges initially when I came here; from my accent to being shy and not being able to speak up.  I would have never thought that I could publish anything, but here I am writing this blog.  My mom would always insist on me learning how to make basic Gujarati food. I was not at all interested in cooking or even experimenting with different recipes. A lot of my interest in food started after I got married.  My husband, who is a big time food lover, inspired me initially to try different types of foods. Growing up I wasn't exposed to anything but traditional Gujarati food and some version of "Gujaratified" north or south Indian food.  Even when I came to the US, I  was very reluctant to try different cuisines.
I am also a mom of two kids and that is a challenge on its own. To get my kids to love what they eat I have to be creative as I want them to grow up with a wide ranging pallet. So most of the recipes here are kids friendly.
